What to look for when purchasing energy saving lights?

What to look for when purchasing energy saving lights? Top of the list has to be quality - there are loads of cheap LED lights out there and they’re frankly a waste of money. Most good quality LED bulbs clearly indicate what type of incandescent bulb they are suitable to replace. So if you’re looking for a low energy lighting alternative to say a warm white 35w 50 degree mains powered halogen lamp then check any GU10 LED bulbs to ensure they match that spec. The second aspect to consider is that LED lights tend to be highly directional and are thus naturally excellent as spot lights. There are general purpose all round LED bulbs available but they’re nowhere as pervasive as LED spotlights. The most popular application for LED low energy lighting at present is replacing halogen lamps.
