This reform changed the laws making it much more difficult for a debtor to qualify for Chapter 7. A Chapter 7 will discharge the debt owed in it’s entirety. If a debtor dosen’t pass the “means test” to enroll for Chapter 7 then they will have to file a Chapter 13. With a Chapter 13 the court will analyze your entire financial state of affairs to decide how much you will have to pay back towards your debts over the course of five years.
