Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction is the most prevalent cause of a progressive collapsed foot in adults. The posterior tibial muscle complex is the major muscle complex which holds up the arch of the feet, consequently if there is problems with the muscle and it can’t do its function adequately, then the mid-foot of the foot could fall contributing to soreness and ongoing deformity.
