Information on the Origin of the Gas Mask

The gas mask as most people understand or know it at this time evolved because of technology over time that have been designed for use by deep sea divers, firefighters along with mine personnel. A popular false impression regarding the gas mask had been that it was developed by Garrett A. Morgan in 1914. Morgan’s technology didn’t resemble nearly anything remotely like modern mask and was simply a hood with a breathing tube that dropped to the ground so a firefighter could draw breath coming from the lower, cleaner layers of air along with struggling with a fire. It was later on adapted for the purpose of mine rescues in which the tubes can be manipulated to circumvent flooded mine tunnels or gas crammed pockets. The ıssue of who manufactured the gas mask is certainly to this very day not quickly clarified.
