You can expect that lasik prices are expensive, even despite the slight decrease they have experienced. Not every clinic will have the same prices, but each one does quote per eye. Not everyone needs surgery on both eyes, but if you do, the price will be doubled. The prices may be increased if your particular doctor uses any new technology or works completely bladeless. Nowadays it is uncommon for doctors to charge for every extra thing though.
The cost of lasik could be anywhere between $1500-$2200 for each eye. Although sales like $499 per eye do exist, read the fine print before signing anything. $499 will not cover any follow-up procedures or additional treatments that most people need. In 2008, many doctors did charge under $1000 an eye, but recent reports conclude that few doctors will do the surgery for that little in 2009. Really beware of the bargain surgeries and make sure you ask a lot of questions and do a lot of research before going with one of them. Lasik demand is slightly dropping this year due to economic difficulty, so if the trend continues, we may soon see quality treatments given at far lower prices.
